Doorways Into Prayer: Healing From Spiritual Burnout
A gentle, self-paced online mini-retreat
“I miss the closeness I once had with God…”
“I should have better habits when it comes to my relationship with God, but I’m just so exhausted…”
“After this season of suffering and loss, I feel like things have shifted between me and God and I’m not sure how I actually feel towards Him or what to do about it…”
“I feel like the rug got pulled out from under my belief system and the old ways I used to connect with God feel triggering and aren’t working for me anymore…”
“I’ve just stepped out of a spiritually abusive community and I’m scared I’ve lost touch with who God really is and healthy ways to connect with Him…”
“I’ve been *doing, doing, doing* for God my entire life, making everything about Him, but I don’t even know who I really am today and I feel profoundly lonely and tired…”
These are statements I’ve heard (and even said myself) over the last 20+ years of walking with Jesus. Maybe you relate to one or two of these perspectives, or maybe you are in your own unique season of spiritual exhaustion. As a trauma-informed spiritual director and story-work coach, I often get to hold space for women confessing these realities for the first time and helping them navigate their journey back home – home to themselves and home to a God of welcome.
It’s a difficult journey to take alone. I designed this online retreat to help you gently explore a way forward.
Together we will learn to be with the shame or fear that might be attached to our spiritual exhaustion, we will explore our story and history with God, we will slow down and name what is really true, we will re-examine what we actually believe about God and ourselves, and we will discover ways to pray that feel gentle on our souls.
If you are looking for a safe place to process what surfaces during this retreat, I will be facilitating a unique online group (included in the retreat price) called the Soul Tending Circle where we can share our discoveries, ask our questions, and hold compassionate listening space for one another. This group will meet for four weeks in July on Tuesday evenings, starting July 9th-30th at 7:00pm EDT.
I hope you will join me as we discover spacious and nourishing ways to connect with God without the demand to give what you don’t have. I cannot wait to see how God will meet you during this retreat.

Lesson 3: Healing Images of God
A lot of my work around healing my images of God has come through uncovering the true meaning of the words God uses to describe Himself – and matching those definitions with how God’s character operates within the life of Jesus.
-
Lesson 4: Lingering with Love
We need frequent glimpses of God’s loving face in order to build trust within our relationship, which will ultimately cultivate freedom in prayer. So how do we get a glimpse of the loving gaze of God?
